Continued XXL Coverage & Support

A quick update on the Billabong XXL fundraising to get to LA. Peter & his parents organised a fantastic quiz night in Milltown Malbay, Co. Clare. It took place in Friel’s pub, with a turnout of around 25 teams.

There was also a raffle, which had some great prizes including loads of Emerald Surfwear gear, a framed David Olsthoorn print, a framed print of Peter’s XXL nominated wave and a bunch of other great stuff.

We had a piece in the Irish Times last week, today in the Coleraine Chronicle and I think on Sunday there should be a piece in the Sunday World. You can check out the Chronicle’s article below.

Peter Conroy XXL Nominee

Billabong XXL Nomination

The last few weeks have been pretty hectic. Peter Conroy & I got the news that his barrel ridden at Mullaghmore, Co. Sligo back in January had been nominated in the Billabong XXL Awards, in the the Pacifico Tube category.

The shots have been run in surf magazines around the world and even in the National press. They also went nuts on the social networks when they eventually found their way on there.

Anyway, I’m not a big believer in self promotion, which possibly has a negative effect on my work, but I’m a photographer. I’d rather just let the photos do the talking. People can form their own opinions and reactions to them.

Peter & I are heading to the XXL Awards being held in Anaheim, California on the 3rd May. As some of you may be aware Peter doesn’t have the backing of a big surf brand like most of the other nominees, so we’re just funding this trip ourselves. We also put out a request for any help possible through press, donations etc which has been amazing so far. I can’t say thank you enough and appreciate the generosity of the Irish surf community and those outside it who have helped us so far.

You can find a donation link to help us get to LA below – Thanks!

Welcome to the new website

Hi guys,

Thanks for checking out the new website. It’s basically to give me a contact point to send anyone to, to get a quick view of a few of my images or just find out a little about me. The galleries will grow over time, just didn’t want to throw everything up there at once and it’s only for my best work. I’ll also be blogging pretty regularly so keep an eye out for those. I’ll normally post them up through my Facebook page etc as well.

Anyways, if you have any feedback or just want to drop me a line please do.

Roo
